We're At The 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show

The 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show opened last night, just in time for Chicago's first real snow of the winter!

We can usually count on some winter weather when the boat show is underway and that's a nice reminder about why boating is so important to our Lake Michigan boaters. Boaters throughout our region are so enthusiastic about getting on the water that they look forward to spring in a special way. The boat show is just about the half-way mark between haul-out and spring launch, so it really gives boaters that first tingle of an approaching season -- snow or not!

The show has a lot to offer, in terms of boat selection and activities. Pose with the Geico Gekko or "Flo" from Progressive for a family shot. Drop in on Fred's Shed for some great boat maintenance advice. Visit the Welcome to the Water pavillion for helpful information from Discover Boating or take in the show at Rail Jam to see some wakeboard styling.

And be sure to visit Pier 33's Scout & Pursuit display. The boats look great and Bill Devitt, Mark White and Tighe Curran are on hand from Pier 33 to assist boat show visitors with all of their boating questions. We'll also be joined today and tomorrow by James Pate from Scout Boats, so this is your opportunity to meet with our factory expert.

Have a look at photos from the show openiing.: www.facebook.com/pier33marina.

The 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show continues through Monday January 16. Check back in on our blog throughout the weekend for more updates, or better yet -- see Pier 33 at the boat show. For complete show details, Click Here.

Boat Show Move-In Day - Chicago Boat Show

We’re in!

Monday January 9 was Pier 33’s assigned “Move-In” day for the 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV  Show.

This was an unusual move-in for us – we’re not used to dry roads and clear skies in January. Our crew got shuttled a few boats over to the show staging yard over the weekend and then we convoyed over early Monday morning.

If you haven’t ever watched a boat show or other type of trade show come together, it can look a little discombobulated while “under construction”. However, with the help of a great crane crew and well-organized schedule provided by the NMMA, we were able to get all of our carpet, boats and equipment into place very nicely.

We do have a few finishing touches to apply between now and show opening (Thursday 2 PM, January 12), but the show is already looking very good. Have a look at our video, below, for a sneak peek at Pier 33's boat show display featuring new boats from Scout and Pursuit.

When you get to the show, be sure to look for “Big Blue” flying above the Pier 33 display, alongside marker balloons for Scout and Pursuit.

We’re looking forward to the start of the show. See you there.

Save Big With Boat Show Incentives From Scout, Pursuit, Yamaha, Chaparral & Pier 33

With the opening of the 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sport & RV Show just a few days away, here’s an update on specials available thru Scout, Pursuit, Chaparral, Yamaha and Pier 33.

Let’s begin with Yamaha’s Proven Choice Sales Event, because this valuable incentive applies to new boats from Scout and Pursuit. Both builders are exclusively powered by Yamaha outboards. Yamaha outboards are proven as the boater’s choice for quality, reliability and efficiency. The Proven Choice Sales Event provides new Pursuit and Scout owners with 5 Years of engine warranty protection, ensuring a half-decade of worry-free boating. As an alternative to the extended warranty protection, buyers can opt to receive dealership cash credit towards a new Scout or Pursuit purchase ranging from $300 to $2,000. Plus, Yamaha has added an extra $500 bonus for all 150 HP Yamahas sold. You’ll frequently find our Scout 210 XSF (featured at the show!), Scout 262 Abaco (featured at the show!) and Pursuit OS 255 (one 2010 boat show demo with twin 150’s still available) powered by the 150’s and Yamaha will provide each purchaser of a 150-powered boat with a coupon for an additional $500 towards the purchase for each engine. “P-C-S-E” is valid thru March 31, 2012. See your Pier 33 Sales Representative for more details.

Pursuit has provided Pier 33 and other Pursuit dealers with a very enticing Winter Boat Show Retail Incentive, allowing us to pass along additional savings ranging from $1,000 to $8,000 on qualifying models, but don’t delay, as this incentive expires shortly after the conclusion of the boat show. Yamaha’s Proven Choice program applies, too, so Pursuit buyers have an opportunity to take advantage of both programs.

There are two attractive promotional treats available from Scout Boats  for Pier 33 customers during the boat show. Scout recently announced the continuation of Ultimate Value Pricing: factory-direct discounts on five very popular models, available from our inventory or factory-fresh orders in time for spring delivery. Savings on these models range from $6,362 to $11,169 off of Scout’s MSRP. U-V-P pricing is also combined with Yamaha’s Proven Choice Sales Event for even bigger savings for Scout buyers. In addition, Scout has extended the Holiday Dream Boat Event for Pier 33’s display at the Chicago Boat Show. Holiday Dream allows Pier 33 to provide additional factory-direct discounts on the 245 XSF ($5,000, 2012 in stock!), 262 XSF ($10,000, order now!) and 282 XSF ($10,000, order now!), but sales must be secured during boat show week.

Chaparral has announced the 2012 Cash Back / Power Forward Boat Show Sales Event. This “Powerful” program provides rebates and extended engine warranties on qualifying models ranging from $1,000 to $60,000. Our Pier 33 display at the Chicago Boat Show will not include Chaparral, but our friends from Munson Ski & Marine will have a full display of Chaparral models right at the show entrance. If you are an Indiana or Michigan boater and are considering a new Chaparral for 2012, contact Pier 33 to find out more about Chaparral Boats and the Cash Back / Power Forward. CB-PF thru February 29, 2012.

We’re not done, yet! Last, but not least, all Pier 33 new boat purchasers – Pursuit, Scout or Chaparral – will also receive the option of
free dockage at our deluxe St. Joseph marina for the 2012 boating season, or – depending on the size of the boat and boater’s needs – complimentary Launch on Command or Hook ‘n Go service for upcoming summer. Pier 33 is indeed Michigan’s finest full-service marina and dealership and we’re sure you will enjoy boating with us in St. Joseph.

The boat show is a great opportunity to choose the boat that will bring you memories to treasure for a lifetime. Be sure to take advantage of our special show pricing on all models and these additional incentives from each manufacturer! See our team for complete details on your favorite models.

Tips To Save Time And Money At Your Next Boat Show

When you're interested in buying a boat, boat shows are one of the best ways to try on many different shapes and sizes of boats. From sport boats to deck boats to cruisers and fishing boats. Boat shows also provide a great time to mingle with the boating community and hear firsthand how boating is a wonderful way to spend your free time. With all this excitement, a boat show can feel a bit overwhelming. To help you save time and money, follow these tips.

Do Your Homework

Boat shows are a great way to begin the boat buying process. But with all the different styles and sizes to choose from, it's hard to make a decision if you haven't already narrowed down your choices. Before attending our boat show, visit our website and start looking at the brands and models (Pursuit, Scout and Chaparral Boats) offered by Pier 33. While browsing, think about what you'll use your boat for and how many people you'll take out at a time. That way, when you visit us at the boat show, you'll be able to spend more time on the boat that fits.

Come Prepared

When you come to the boat show, you should bring a few things with you.
  1. Questions - bring all your questions. Pier 33 will have an expert team on hand to help you understand everything there is to know about the boating lifestyle and the different boats. There are no silly questions. All boaters start somewhere and our staff will help you gain the knowledge you need.
  2. A Notebook and A Camera-Phone - you may want to take notes about and/or compare different boat models, sizes, how many people can fit or how much fuel the boat can hold. Having a notebook will come in handy and you can use the camera phone or digital camera for extra help to remind yourself what you liked best about each boat.
  3. Printed Address Labels - if you plan to visit multiple dealers during the show, bring pre-printed address labels that have your name and contact information. Many vendors ask for this information and having an address label ready to peel and stick will save you lots of time.
  4. Your full boating crew. Family, kids, friends who will be boating with you can be an important source of feedback about what fits best and you may learn about some key features that will help make everyone's day on the water more enjoyable.
Climb Aboard

You'd be surprised at how many people are too nervous to climb aboard and check out the boat that caught their eye. Go ahead, climb aboard! We're here for you and want you to feel comfortable spending some time on the boats that fit what you're looking for. Have a seat at the helm, open doors and check for storage room or take a peek at the head (the restroom). Spend as long as you like and always feel welcome to stop back for a second, third or fourth look as you make your comparisons throughout the show.

Want to know more? Don't be shy. Pier 33's friendly staff will be right there when you need us to answer any question or show you the features that may surprise you. There's no obligation or pressure to make a show purchase, although there will be some outstanding show incentives if you choose to take advantage of them.

Are you ready for the 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show next weekend? We sure are!
